L'Enfant Lyonnais

I’m Full

I just had a cheese tasting.

Thursday night we saw Ariel Pink, (lo-fi rock from L.A) in this weird awesome music venue where we met a bunch of French people.  We started a crazy dance party with the singer that got really sweaty really quick.  Then last night we somehow ended up at a French biker bar and then this place where these guys were playing reggae and we ended up dancing again, which was great.  The reggae place was about two blocks from the hotel, and totally hidden.  I’ll be going back there.

The guys at the Ariel Pink show also told us about two other good places to go and dance, one of which is on a boat, called Sonic, but which apparently doesn’t have a website or phone number.  He wrote some very hard to understand directions in my pocket notebook.  We might have to skip that one.

I’m glad we found some good music here.  According to the guys at the show, that little venue is one of the best places.

We had a tour of Le Croix Rousse (the quartier the hotel is in) the other day as well.  It is an awesome area!  Very politically and idealistically oriented.  Most people who live here are vert ou noir, meaning they are socialists or anarchists.  There is a lot of shared housing where a bunch of people live in a big building together, and there a re a lot of really cool and interesting people who live in those places.

So much more to say but not enough time. Maybe later I’ll do more.  For now, I must figure out how to use the washing machines.
